Every dental website in Los Angeles claims to be the best one. The word has been used so often it now carries almost no information. What does carry information is a short list of things you can actually verify before you sit in the chair, and none of them appear in a headline.
Rite Dentist serves North Hollywood from Valley Village, and we are not going to tell you we are the best practice for everyone, because no practice is. What follows is how to judge any dentist, including us.
A five-star average tells you very little on its own. What tells you something is repetition. Read twenty reviews across Google, Yelp and Healthgrades and look for the same specific thing said again and again by different people over several years. That is a signal about how a practice actually behaves.
Also check the recent ones against the old ones. A practice that was excellent five years ago and has slipped will show it in the last six months. For context, the word that recurs across our own 190-plus five-star Google reviews is gentle, which is exactly the kind of consistent, specific signal worth looking for anywhere.
Anyone can list letters. The useful ones tell you about ongoing commitment rather than a single exam passed decades ago. Where a dentist trained matters less than whether they still pursue continuing education, and whether they hold memberships that require it.
If a particular philosophy matters to you, look for the body that governs it. A genuinely biological dentist will typically belong to the IAOMT, as our lead dentist Dr. Maryet Nikkie Babrood does, and will be able to explain the reasoning behind every material choice rather than simply asserting one.
This is the one that separates practices, and you can test it in a single visit.
This narrows the field faster than any review. Most practices are conventional. A smaller number are holistic, which changes the materials that go in your mouth: no mercury amalgam, metal-free restorations, fluoride-free options, ceramic implants available. That is not better for everyone, but it is a real difference and it is worth deciding on purpose. Our guide to holistic dentistry lays out what it actually involves, and our dentist in North Hollywood page covers how we practice it locally.
No honest practice can claim that title, since the right dentist depends on what you need and value. Look instead for consistent, specific praise repeated across years of reviews, credentials that require ongoing education, and a dentist who explains alternatives and puts costs in writing.
Look for patterns rather than the star average. Read across Google, Yelp and Healthgrades for the same specific quality mentioned repeatedly by different patients, and compare recent reviews against older ones to see whether standards have held.
Ongoing education matters more than where they trained. If a philosophy matters to you, look for the governing body behind it, such as IAOMT membership for biological dentistry. A good dentist can explain the reasoning behind each material choice rather than just asserting it.
Notice whether they are ever willing to watch a small problem rather than treat it immediately, whether you receive an itemized written estimate first, whether alternatives including cheaper ones are explained, and whether you feel pressured to decide the same day.
Neither is right for everyone. Holistic practices avoid mercury amalgam, use metal-free and biocompatible materials, and offer fluoride-free options and ceramic implants. Conventional care is a perfectly good choice too. The point is to decide deliberately rather than by default.
