Wisdom Tooth Removal in Valley Village, CA
Wisdom teeth rarely cooperate. Most people don’t have room for them, and when they can’t come in properly, they cause pain, crowding, infection, and damage to neighboring teeth. Dr. Babrood, DDS, FICD evaluates every case individually. Call 818-766-7776.
Wisdom teeth (third molars) typically emerge between ages 17 and 25. Because modern jaws often lack the space to accommodate four additional molars, wisdom teeth become impacted — stuck below the gumline, growing sideways, or erupting only partially. Approximately 70 percent of wisdom teeth are impacted or will become impacted over time.
At Rite Dentist, wisdom tooth evaluation begins with low-radiation digital X-rays and a thorough examination of tooth position, root development, and proximity to nerves. Not all wisdom teeth need immediate removal — but those causing pain, infection, crowding, or cyst formation require prompt attention. Early removal (before roots fully develop) results in faster healing and lower risk.
When Do Wisdom Teeth Need to Come Out?
- ✓Pain or pressure in the back of the jaw
- ✓Swelling, redness, or discharge around the gum covering the tooth
- ✓Damage or crowding of adjacent second molars
- ✓Recurrent infection (pericoronitis) around the erupting tooth
- ✓Cyst formation around the tooth
- ✓Difficulty fully opening the mouth
- ✓Cavity in the wisdom tooth that can’t be restored
The Extraction Process at Rite Dentist
Wisdom tooth removal at Rite Dentist follows a biocompatible protocol from start to finish. We use:
- ✓Low-radiation digital X-ray and 3D imaging for precise planning
- ✓Local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, or oral sedation based on your anxiety level and procedure complexity
- ✓Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) support for enhanced healing when indicated
- ✓Ozone irrigation of the socket post-extraction to reduce infection risk
- ✓Biocompatible sutures — no unnecessary medications when ozone and PRF can do the job
Dr. Babrood is a graduate of USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and a Fellow of the International College of Dentistry — credentials that reflect both technical training and professional standing.
OUR APPROACH
Three priorities in every extraction.
01
Precise evaluation
Digital X-ray and 3D imaging let us plan the extraction to the millimeter — protecting adjacent teeth, nerves, and sinus structures before we start.
02
Comfortable procedure
Sedation options available for anxious patients. Local anesthesia is optimized and checked before we begin. You should feel pressure, not pain.
03
Biological healing
Ozone socket irrigation, PRF growth factors, and fluoride-free post-op care support faster, cleaner healing than conventional protocols.

Why Choose Rite Dentist for Wisdom Tooth Removal?
Most extraction practices are high-volume and protocol-driven. At Rite Dentist, wisdom tooth removal is approached as a precision procedure with biological healing in mind. Dr. Babrood — FICD, IAOMT certified, USC trained, and a San Fernando Valley Dental Society board member — uses ozone, PRF, and minimal-medication protocols that promote faster healing and lower post-operative infection risk than conventional extraction aftercare.
“An extraction is the beginning of a healing process, not just the end of a tooth. We plan for both.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that are fully erupted, properly positioned, healthy, and easy to clean do not require removal. However, because the vast majority of wisdom teeth are impacted or positioned in ways that cause eventual problems, early evaluation is recommended. Monitoring asymptomatic wisdom teeth with annual X-rays is appropriate for teeth that don’t yet warrant removal.
How painful is wisdom tooth removal?
During the procedure, with proper local anesthesia, you should feel pressure and movement but not pain. Sedation options are available for anxious patients. Post-operative discomfort is manageable with over-the-counter medications for most routine extractions. Dry socket — the most common complication — is significantly reduced with ozone socket irrigation and proper aftercare.
What is dry socket and how is it prevented?
Dry socket (alveolar osteitis) occurs when the blood clot in the extraction socket is dislodged or dissolves prematurely, exposing the underlying bone. It causes significant pain and delays healing. Risk factors include smoking, drinking through a straw, and forceful rinsing in the first 24 hours. At Rite Dentist, ozone socket irrigation and PRF placement reduce dry socket risk substantially compared to conventional extraction protocols.
How long does wisdom tooth recovery take?
Most patients return to normal activity within 3 to 5 days for routine extractions. Impacted wisdom teeth requiring surgical access may take 7 to 10 days for initial healing, with full bone healing over several months. Swelling peaks at 24 to 48 hours and improves progressively. Cold compresses, soft diet, and following post-op instructions are the most important recovery factors.
What age is best for wisdom tooth removal?
Earlier is generally better — typically in the late teens to mid-twenties, before wisdom tooth roots are fully developed. Partial root development means simpler removal, faster healing, and lower risk of complications. That said, wisdom teeth can be safely removed at any age when indicated. Dr. Babrood evaluates root anatomy and bone density individually to assess complexity.
