What Is Ozone Therapy for Teeth?
Ozone is oxygen with a third atom attached. That extra atom makes it unstable, and when it meets a bacterial cell wall it destroys it on contact. Healthy human tissue is unaffected.
In dentistry that property is unusually useful, because most of what goes wrong in a mouth is bacterial. Decay is bacterial. Gum disease is bacterial. The infection inside a tooth is bacterial. Ozone reaches those organisms directly, in the places that are hardest to clean.
It also goes where instruments and rinses cannot. Enamel is riddled with microscopic tubules far too small for a brush or a scaler. Periodontal pockets extend below the gumline. Ozone penetrates both, as a gas or dissolved in water, and it does so in seconds.
We generate it on site with our own medical-grade ozone generator, from pure oxygen, at the moment it is needed. Dr. Babrood applies it herself as part of treatment.

Early cavities
Caught early enough, a white-spot lesion can be arrested with ozone and remineralized rather than drilled. Not every cavity qualifies, but the ones that do are the ones we would rather not fill.
Gum infection
Ozonated water flushed into periodontal pockets kills the bacteria driving the infection, often without the systemic antibiotic that would otherwise be prescribed.
Tooth sensitivity
Sensitivity usually means exposed dentinal tubules. Ozone helps seal and desensitize them, and most patients notice a difference quickly.
Teeth whitening
Ozone supports whitening while disinfecting at the same time, and tends to mean less of the sensitivity that often follows a bleaching appointment.
Oral bone health
At extraction and surgical sites, ozone disinfects the socket and supports the blood supply the bone needs to rebuild properly rather than heal poorly.
Cold sores

Ozone Instead of Antibiotics
A systemic antibiotic travels through your entire body to reach an infection measured in millimeters. It disrupts your gut along the way, and every course contributes to resistance. For a localized oral infection, that is a broad instrument for a narrow problem.
Ozone is applied precisely where the bacteria are and does not enter systemic circulation in any meaningful way. There is no resistance mechanism against it, because it destroys cell walls physically rather than interfering with bacterial metabolism.
To be clear about the limits: ozone does not replace antibiotics in every case. A spreading infection, facial swelling, or systemic involvement needs conventional treatment, and we will prescribe it without hesitation when that is what the situation calls for. What ozone does is remove the reflex to prescribe for cases that never needed it.
What Ozone Therapy Costs
Ozone is usually billed separately from the procedure it accompanies, and the amount depends on what is being treated and how extensive it is. We tell you the figure before we do anything, not after.
Most dental insurance does not have a specific code for ozone, so it is generally an out-of-pocket item even when the underlying procedure is covered. It is worth weighing against what it may prevent. Arresting an early cavity costs less than filling it. Resolving a gum infection without antibiotics has value that does not appear on an invoice at all.
